One project I was given was to reduce emissions from a boiler furnace
There were several challenges in the project, such as the need for increasing burning efficiency (incomplete combustion wastes fuel), reducing gas emissions (locals who hang dry their clothes had contamination problems with ash particles), and the hardest part to overcome, a severely limited budget.

There were several challenges in the project, such as the need for increasing burning efficiency (incomplete combustion wastes fuel), reducing gas emissions (locals who hang dry their clothes had contamination problems with ash particles), and the hardest part to overcome, a severely limited budget.
The proposal was to design a cyclonic dust collector that was able to separate solid particles from combustion gases, much like the more costly dust collection system ($500,000 or more) but at a fraction of the cost. The project outcomes were:
a) a cost of $40,000,
b) the collection of 66 cubic feet of ash per day, and
c) the most important outcome; a positive impact on the neighboring community environment
Below is the article in Alinotas in which project benefits are explained
